The first Training Workshop on private sector engagement with the Entrepreneurship Hub of the Pan-African University Institute for Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS) and the establishment of the first ever Enactus Team within the Pan-African University (PAU) takes place from 13 to 15 October 2022 in the premises of PAUGHSS in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The workshop is organised by GIZ in collaboration with Enactus Germany and PAUGHSS as part of GIZ’s technical support to the PAU. A total of 40 students from PAUGHSS representing both the Yaoundé and Buea campuses are attending the workshop which is facilitated by Ms Olivia Mukam-Wandji, a trainer on entrepreneurship and youth development from Cameroon, who is mandated by GIZ. The objectives are to provide knowledge and skills to the participants on (youth) entrepreneurship supported by the private and economic sector, on the development of public-private partnerships to accompany academic research, student internships and the transition from studies to employment / entrepreneurship as well as facilitate the involvement of the private and economic sectors with the PAUGHSS Entrepreneurship Hub. Furthermore, the training workshop will contribute to the establishment of the first ever “Enactus Team” within the PAU, which will be set up at PAUGHSS by the end of the training.

The training workshop is the first of a series of many that are part of GIZ’s collaboration with the Enactus network to support the Entrepreneurship Hubs of the Pan-African University (PAU) to engage with the private sector in developing an entrepreneurial ecosystem within the PAU. This collaboration is implemented as part of GIZ’s project “Support to the Pan-African University (PAU) and the Institute of Water and Energy Sciences – including Climate Change (PAUWES)” and Enactus’ international project “Action with Africa (AwA)”. Enactus is an experimental learning network dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators, and that enables student teams to develop and realize innovative and sustainable business models. The “Action with Africa” project aims to activate civil society, create new jobs, support post-COVID-19 recovery, achieve positive impacts of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the African continent and establish new Enactus teams in additional African countries, such as Cameroon during the training workshop at PAUGHSS.
