ORIENTATION/INDUCTION SESSION FOR NEWLY ADMITTED PAUGHSS STUDENTS FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR
The Pan African University Institute for Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS) held its orientation and induction session on July 20 and 21, 2026, for the new cohort of 50 African Union scholarship recipients hailing from 27 countries across the continent.
Selected based on merit and gender balance from various sub-regions of the African continent, the students in this 2026 cohort are distributed across two Master’s-level sub-programmes: 40 in the "Governance and Regional Integration" programme based at the University of Yaoundé II main campus in Soa, and 10 in the "Conference Interpreting" programme based at the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI) at the University of Buea.
During this orientation and induction session, the PAUGHSS academic and administrative teams, led by the Deputy Director, Officer in Charge, Professor Marie Mimesse Me Fame, aimed to provide new students with essential information regarding their two-year academic journey at the institute.
The session, which opened and closed with the playing of the African Union anthem and that of the host country, Cameroon, featured introductions of participants (staff and students) and a welcome address by the Deputy Director, Officer in charge. It also included an overview of the Pan African University and its various institutes across the continent, with a special focus on PAUGHSS, as well as presentations on the academic programs and the prevailing academic, administrative, and financial rules and procedures. A briefing on student insurance coverage and a guided tour of the campus concluded the session, which was characterized by lively interaction between students and presenters.
Following a group photo, a welcome cocktail reception was held for the new students in a friendly atmosphere.
