Article on Professor MAGOMA
In late 2019, the Pan African University launched the recruitment of Directors for its four institutes. At the end of this procedure, PAUGHSS and PAULESI got each a new Director, while in PAUSTI, Professor MAGOMA was reconducted. After going through the selection process, he came out as the best, and we are glad to announce it to public opinion, and to have him as the Director of PAUSTI.
But who is Professor Magoma?
Professor Gabriel MAGOMA is the Director of the Pan African University Institute for Science Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI). Having successfully headed the Institute since operationalization in 2011, he is therefore the founding father of PAUSTI.
Prof. MAGOMA is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi where he obtained his first and second degrees in Biochemistry in 2001. He earned his Doctorate Degree in Biochemistry from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
In order to enhance his leadership skills, Prof. MAGOMA pursued studies in leadership and obtained an Executive Master of Science Degree in Organizational Development from the United States International University in 2010.
Prof. Magoma is also a key member of the Government of Kenya’s Inter-Ministerial committees on Pan African University. He has excellent relations with Japan, PAUSTI’s thematic partner. In addition, he serves in the Consortium of Donors for the PAU (EU, GIZ, JICA and AfDB); and the INTRA ACP research consortium.
Thanks to him, PAUSTI got well equipped laboratories. He has also been involved in the follow-up of the construction of the two buildings granted to PAUSTI by the Government of Kenya.
With over 20 years of active teaching, and research experience, Prof. Magoma has published 32 papers in peer reviewed journals and supervised 15 PhD and several MSc students in the area of Biochemical Genetics. He also has three book titles and a book chapter to his name.
Married and father of ………, Prof. MAGOMA who has proven to be an excellent academic and manager will certainly continue to raise PAUSTI to higher heights.
