WHO IS THE NEW VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE PAU COUNCIL
Elected during the 40th ordinary session of AU Executive Council, Professor Amany Abdallah El-Sharif is the new Vice-President of the PAU Council. Professor El-Sharif has a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of higher education on the continent as, since 2016, she is the Coordinator of the North African Regional Office of the Association of African Universities.
Before her election, this Professor of Microbiology and Immunology was also the Dean of the School of Pharmacy of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. Concurrently, she was involved in several continental and international projects. Some include: Consultant and evaluator at the American Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE); Chief Editor (PI) of Al-Azhar International journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences; Founder and Coordinator of the initiative’s activities of Al-Ahram University, Canada, just to name a few.
She has also worked as an international expert in Higher Education Quality Assurance. Thus, she has been involved in the assessment of the quality of higher education in several national, continental and international projects. With regard to publications, she has written and published several academic books, articles and participated in various peer reviewed journals. She has evaluated several scientific works and has also contributed in various magazines, TV programs and newspapers.
This eminent scientist is known to be very determined and a progressive person, always standing to challenges and with a sense of perseverance. For more than two decades she has been relentlessly working for the betterment of higher education in her country and on the continent.
She is an authoritative voice when it comes to higher education discourse in Africa. Her strong skills and solid experience will surely be invaluable assets for the advancement of the Pan-African University.
