Introducing Professor MADOUGOU Saidou

The new Director for African Union Department in charge of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation is a full Professor of Physics at the Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey (Niger). He can boast of about twenty years of experience in higher education, research as well as management of academic and scientific institutions. Prof. Madougou holds a PhD in physics (Toulouse III), a Master's degree in education sciences (Strasbourg 1) and a postgraduate doctorate from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (Senegal). He also holds several training certificates in results-based project planning and management.
For 6 ½ years in Niger, Mr Madougou Saidou held the post of Director of Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) at Abdou Moumouni University, after serving for 3 years as Deputy Director. During his mandate as ENS Director, he implemented a programme to support quality education in his institution: the Programme Régional d'Appui à la Qualité de l'Education en Afrique de l'Ouest (PRAQUE_AO). In ENS, he also set up the Centre for Innovative African Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and Learning for Sub-Saharan Africa (CEA/IEA-MS4SSA). As ENS Director, he was the architect of the reforms of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. Moreover, Prof. Madougou was the Chairman of the Scientific and Teaching Council of the Ecole Supérieure de Communication Electronique et de la Poste (ex-EST). He was a member of the Scientific Council of Abdou Moumouni University from 2021 to 2024.
Prof. Madougou was a member of the Specialised Technical Committee (STC) of Mathematics-Physics-Chemistry (MPC) at the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) from 2016 to 2023 and general rapporteur of this STC from 2021 to 2023.
Since 2014, he has been running the Laboratory of Energetics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation and Industrial Computing at Abdou Moumouni University. He has published more than fifty (50) scientific articles in physics and education sciences in peer-reviewed and/or international abstract-indexed journals. He has taken part in over forty (40) international scientific conferences, symposia and workshops. He is the author and co-author of two books. Prof. Madougou Saidou has supervised several PhD theses in Physics at Abdou Moumouni University and has chaired or participated in more than 30 PhD theses’ juries in Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Senegal.
Prof. Madougou Saidou is an Officer of the Order of Academic Palms of Niger and a Knight of the International Order of Academic Palms of CAMES (OIPA/CAMES).
