PAUGHSS Strengthens Academic Leadership with New Deputy Director

Professor Marie MIMESSE ME FAME has been appointed Deputy Director of the Pan-African University Institute of Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS) in Yaoundé. Prof. MIMESSE ME FAME, who will also serve as Interim Director, assumed her new role following her installation ceremony at the institute's temporary campus at the University of Yaoundé 2.

The appointment, which came through Decision No. 18241350/MINESUP of the Cameroonian Ministry of Higher Education, brings to PAUGHSS a leader with extensive experience in political sociology and governance studies. As a CAMES Associate Professor, Prof. MIMESSE ME FAME has built a distinguished career focusing on democratic governance, gender studies, and electoral sociology.

Her recent academic achievements include earning the prestigious Aggregation degree in Political Sciences from the African Madagascar Council for Higher Education (CAMES) in November 2023. This accomplishment adds to her impressive portfolio of research in areas crucial to African governance and political development.

At PAUGHSS, Prof. MIMESSE ME FAME will draw on her 18 years of experience at the Faculty of Legal Sciences and Policies of Yaoundé II. Her previous role as Assistant Director at the Research Center for Political and Strategic Studies (RCPS) has provided her with valuable administrative expertise that will serve PAUGHSS' strategic objectives.

The new Deputy Director's international experience, including her position as a guest professor at IEP Lille, France, reflects PAUGHSS' commitment to global academic standards while maintaining strong African roots. Her multilingual capabilities and extensive research in electoral sociology and gender in politics position her well to advance the institute's research agenda.

In her new position, Prof. MIMESSE ME FAME will oversee PAUGHSS' administrative and academic activities, including doctoral studies supervision and the development of institutional partnerships. Her appointment comes at a time when the institute continues to establish itself as a leading center for governance and social sciences education in Africa.
