PAUSTI Students attend the 4th Pan African Youth Conference On African Unity and Development

From 25th to 27th of March 2024, a group of PAUSTI students were invited for the 4th Pan African Youth Conference on African Unity and development organized by African Youth Commission (AYC) in partnership with National Youth Council Kenya. This conference was held at Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi, with the theme: "Beyond All Talks: Youth as Drivers of Africa's Peace, Political and social Economic Development."

This conference was held at Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi, with the theme: "Beyond All Talks: Youth as Drivers of Africa's Peace, Political and social Economic Development"

 

Matters discussed included how the role of African youth in Democratic Governance and socio-economic Development can be strengthened, reflection on African Youth Collective Climate Change; Loss and Damage conversation and how African youths can access Climate change financing focusing on Loss and Damage funds plus continental and regional trends on the youth peace and security agenda. Additionally, promotion of the culture of youth political participation with the aim of unlocking the power of Youth in Elections and mainstreaming gender equality, empowering women leadership in transforming the African Continent were delved in. Furthermore, preparing for the Future of work and the fourth industrial revolution, reconfiguring Africa's education system Fit for purpose and reshaping the future of education and skills development in Africa to enhance equitable access to quality education were highly discussed.

 

The conference ended with election of the AYC Executive Council (2024-2026) where one of the PAUSTI students, Aminata Dembele, PhD Electrical Engineering (Telecom option) from Mali was voted as the Commissioner for Political Affairs.

The Pan African University, established as a flagship project of the African Union, aims to harness higher education, scientific research, and technology to drive Africa’s economic development, foster social integration, and enhance global competitiveness.
