About
The Pan African University announced the 3rd Annual International Conference, a flagship gathering of the four Institutes, that unites researchers, policy-makers, industry leaders, development partners, students and alumni. This multidisciplinary forum promotes knowledge exchange, showcases African Union–funded research, and highlights Institute-led innovations that drive continental development in line with AU Agenda 2063. Anchored on the AU 2026 Theme of the Year "Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063", the conference spotlights scientific, technological, social and financial tools that strengthen water security, food security and safe sanitation across Africa. Attendees will explore practical solutions, funding pathways, and cross-sector partnerships to build resilience in communities across the continent.
Call for Abstracts
The Conference will be held on 17 - 19 November 2026 under the theme "Harnessing Research and Innovation towards Water, Food Security and Safe Sanitation for a Resilient and Sustainable Africa". The conference invites researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, industry leaders, development partners, students, and alumni to share evidence-based solutions that scale across the continent. Abstracts are invited under the following thematic areas:
- Water Security, Climate Change and Environmental Resilience
- Sanitation, Hygiene and One Health
- Sustainable Infrastructure and Smart Systems
- Governance, Finance and Inclusive Policy
- Green Energy and the Blue Economy
- Youth, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Indigenous Knowledge
Why participate?
Research and innovation are essential levers for delivering water security, food security and safe sanitation at continental scale. This conference seeks actionable, locally grounded and scalable solutions that strengthen climate, ecological, social and economic resilience. The PAU network and its partners are invited to join the conference to exchange ideas, and build collaborative networks that enhance the impact of their research. Participants will engage in sessions designed to spark collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

Venue
The conference will be hybrid, offering both virtual and physical participation at the Pan African University of Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation, JKUAT.
Author Guidelines
Authors are strongly advised to follow the below-mentioned guidelines as well as the provided templates:
Submissions should be prepared in English as per the conference template. The font should be Times New Roman and must not exceed one page (500 words). The title of the paper should be in bold, Times New Roman with font size 12 and centered to the page. Authors’ names should be written in full. Affiliations should include the institution name, country. Only the corresponding authors’ email address should be included. For multi-authored papers, the submitting author will be identified as the Corresponding Author unless otherwise indicated. Submission of such papers is on the basis that the corresponding author has the agreement of all authors for submission of the abstractThe text should cover the introduction, methodology, results, and conclusions/recommendations. Three - five relevant keywords should be provided.

Kindly note that this conference is free of charge for PAU students and available for individuals wishing to participate or attend both virtually and physically. Should a participant wish to attend physically, travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered by the conference.
