POEM: "I AM AN AFRICAN CHILD"

During the visit of the Commissioner in charge of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, H.E. Professor Mohammed Belhocine at the Pan-African University of Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS),

Mr. Sorie Sama, a student of PAUGHSS, delighted the Commissioner and his accompanying delegation with a poem skilfully declaimed in honour of the African.

I AM AN AFRICAN CHILD

I am an African child
Bright and brilliant
With such an unimaginable skin color
 I am indeed gifted

Unfortunately, I’m often the target of pity
My future has been confined to charity
I cry out for a gift of a lifetime, rather than the meantime

Educate me and I shall be self-reliant
 I shall thrive-high like kilmanjaro
For I am an African child

Teach me right from wrong, and I shall be strong
Teach me to dream and I shall become
For I am an African child

I'm the son of a soil rich in diversity and resources
Full of potentials for a better tomorrow
With discipline and hard work, I shall glow
For I am the star that shines across the globe

I am extraordinary
A product of a greater nation
A united Africa
The Africa of the Africa Union
For I am an African child

THANK YOU
