PAU STRATEGIC PLAN 2020-2024

The Pan African University’s is to “become a leading centre of excellence in research and higher education for the advancement of Africa”. 

To live up to its vision, the Pan African University developed a five-year strategic plan for 2020 to 2024. During this time, the PAU will strengthen its operations - enhancing the quality, relevance and the reputation of the university.  

The Strategic Plan formulates three core functions of the PAU 

  • 1 - Human Resource Development  
  • 2 - Research for Development and  
  • 3 - Outreach and Integration  

 

Targets of the PAU’s core functions can only be achieved with strong steering and support processes:  

  • PAU’s growth and development relies on sustainable funding by all member states 

  • Enhanced governance structures based on a balance of autonomy and accountability will allow swift and smooth operations.  

  • Fostering transparent and agile management processes and procedures with an inclusive leadership. 

  • Ultimately, the PAU will provide access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipment and databases, enabling cutting edge research and training.  

Strategic Objectives of the PAU

Governance
Goal: PAU Governance framework applies the principle of delegated authority to Council, Rectorate and Institute level to ensure the implementation of the strategy.
Management
Goal: The rectorate and the Institues deliver excelent and relevant outcomes.
Financial Sustainability
Goal: PAU's growth and development are based on sustainable funding.
Infrastructure
Goal: PAU provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipment and databases.
Research for Development
Goal: The PAU provides state of the art developmental research and innovation in the thematic areas of the PAU institutes
Human Capital Development
Goal: The PAU provides state of the art developmental research and innovation in the thematic areas of the PAU institutes
Pan African Integration, Outreach, Cooperation, Transfer.
Goal: The PAU contributes to Pan African and international knowledge transfer and exchange with the academic, policy, private and public sector advancing PanAfrican Integration and the African Development Agenda.
