ESTI COMMISSIONER VISITS THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF THE PAU RECTORATE ON 13 MAY 2022

Yaounde: Cameroon: On Friday, 13 May 2022, the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI), H.E. Prof. Mohammed Belhocine, on a working visit to Cameroon from 10 to 14 May 2022, visited the construction site of the Pan African University Rectorate at the place called “Nkolmefou”, not far from the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport.

Prof. Belhocine and his delegation, were welcomed at the site by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, with whom he started the visit.

The gigantic building that will house the PAU Rectorate will comprise 7 floors and 120 rooms. It will include a five-storey main building and a two-storey residence hotel. It will also include a leisure centre, a playground, a health centre and the Rector's residence. The budget allocated by the Cameroonian Government for the completion of these works
amounts to 8,833,152,883 CFA francs.

This achievement is part of the implementation of the Host Agreement on the Pan-African University Rectorate signed between the State of Cameroon and the African Union Commission on 5 April 2018. Construction works of the Rectorate of the four PAU institutes began in November 2019. They were slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but have resumed and are on track. The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far for the building to be completed by November 2023.
