PAU welcomes its first Vice Rector

Professor Bolanle Idowu Akeredolu-Ale is the first Vice-Rector appointed at the Pan-African University since its inception. She is actually a distinguished academic figure who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role as the. She took office in Yaoundé, Cameroon, in February 2024. Prior to her current position, Professor Bolanle served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) from 2020 to 2022.

Her academic journey is marked by a remarkable array of degrees and certificates, including a BA in English, MA in linguistics, postgraduate diploma in journalism, master in teaching English as a foreign language, teaching English as a second language, and a PhD in linguistics. Beyond her formal education, Professor Bolanle has actively participated in numerous professional training courses and workshops, further enriching her knowledge and skills in the field.

With over 33 years of dedication to language and communication studies, she has established herself as a prominent researcher in English as a foreign language / English as a second language. She has made significant contributions to the field through her research and teaching methodologies. Her innovative approaches to technology in teaching and learning have propelled her to the forefront of educational advancements. She holds numerous academic qualifications, professional certifications, and has received scholarships/awards, national and international recognition such as: Overseas Development Administration (ODA) Training Awards and Nigeria Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Throughout her distinguished career, Professor Bolanle has held positions in various universities, not only in Nigeria but also beyond its borders. As a prolific scholar, she has produced numerous publications and her research contributions have advanced the understanding of pedagogical practices.

As a committed member of various professional and learned societies, such as the Communication Skills Project for Universities of Agriculture and Technology Network and the Nigerian Association of Teachers and Researchers of English as a Second Language, Professor Bolanle has contributed significantly to the advancement of academic discourse and pedagogy. Her contributions extend beyond academia, as evidenced by her tenure as a staff writer at the Daily Times of Nigeria, Ikeja Lagos, showcasing her versatility and commitment to effective communication beyond the confines of the university system.

Professor Bolanle's extensive experience as an educator, researcher, assessor, and examiner underscores her dedication to academic excellence and her profound impact on higher education. Her visionary leadership and dedication to scholarly pursuits make her an invaluable asset to the Pan-African University community. Together with Professor Jean Koulidiati, Rector of the Pan-African University, she will undoubtedly contribute to enhance its reputation and academic standing both locally and internationally.
