The four-day training workshop was geared towards upgrading the skills of the Communication and IT officers of the Rectorate and four operational institutes, to ensure proper ownership and management to the Pan African University website.

During a massively attended ceremony, the 58 male and 52 female new students pledged to abide by the rule of African academic excellence throughout their stay in the Ibadan-based Institute. 

Through the creation of the Pan African University, the African Union Member States pledged to invest more on quality education, and to promote research and innovation as the main drivers of the continent's emergence.
